SDLP Newry and Mourne Council Group Leader Connaire McGreevy has expressed his grave disappointment at the decision to uphold the rejection of plans for a 200-berth marina in Warrenpoint.
The Special European Union Programmes Body had rejected an application for funding for the Marina and today the decision of their appeals board was to uphold the rejection.
Cllr McGreevy said: “This is a bitter blow for Warrenpoint and will have massive economic repercussions.
“This marina could have been a fantastic catalyst for incoming trade and tourism, as well as opening up linking opportunities with other similar marinas on the West Coast of Scotland as well as further down the Irish coast.
“I deeply regret the SEUPB’s decision against this valuable project.”
